The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) proudly joins the global community in commemorating World Statistics Day, observed every five years to highlight a critical role of official statistics in shaping a better, more informed world
The 2025 theme reaffirms our collective commitment to the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics impartiality, professionalism, and integrity as the foundation for producing trustworthy data that serve citizens, policymakers, and development partners alike.
Over the years, the growing demand for timely, disaggregated, and high-quality data, especially in tracking the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has strengthened national statistical systems. In times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, reliable statistics played a pivotal role in guiding life-saving decisions and shaping social and economic recovery strategies. Today, as Zimbabwe confronts evolving challenges, from climate change to poverty reduction and inclusive growth, the need for credible, independent statistics has never been greater. Evidence-based policymaking depends on accurate data to drive sustainable development and ensure that it leaves no one and no place behind.
